News - Unite! Doctoral Network in Energy Storage

1st "Seminar School Unite!Energy: sustainable energy"

Unite!Energy PhDs, researchers and teachers met at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya-Barcelona Tech (UPC) in Barcelona from 26 to 27 February 2025 and, in addition to a series of scientific seminars, visited the Research Center for Multiscale Science and Engineering, the Specific Hydrogen Research Center and the Barcelona Supercomputing Center.

The 1st Unite!Energy Seminar School focused on sustainable energy, bringing experts together to discuss advancements in hydrogen storage, electrolysis, and fuel cells.

Talks highlighted the role of hydrogen in storing renewable energy and balancing power grids. Unite!Energy experts explored ways to improve electrolyzers, catalysts, and fuel cells to enhance their efficiency. They also addressed challenges in scaling up hydrogen production and discussed how supercomputing can aid in designing better storage materials.

The event fostered collaboration and knowledge-sharing to support the transition to clean energy. The day concluded with visits to the Research Center for Multiscale Science and Engineering (CCEM) and the Specific Hydrogen Research Center (CER-H2) at UPC, where participants explored cutting-edge research facilities.

In the second part of the seminar, twelve Unite!Energy doctoral candidates presented their backgrounds and research topics to the Unite! Alliance community, promoting collaboration and interdisciplinary exchange.

At the same time, the XI Unite! Dialogue “Unite! students: our soul, our core” took place and there were many opportunities to exchange ideas with other Uniters.
