Unite!Energy is worthy of awards...


Jan Philipp Hofmann, Bettina Wagner and Corinna Caspar-Terizakis from TU Darmstadt received the Unite! Award for their contribution to promoting Early Career Reseachers. A significant part of this contribution is their work on the Unite! Doctoral Network in Energy Storage ‘Unite!Energy’.

Unite!Energy 2nd Annual Conference


From 8–10 October 2025, the Unite!Energy 2nd Annual Conference took place at Aalto University during the Unite! Dialogue in Espoo, Finland. The event brought together most of the network of doctoral candidates, supervisors and partners of the MSCA Doctoral Network UNITE!Energy, reinforcing interdisciplinary exchange and cross-institutional collaboration across the alliance.

Free online MOOC for PhD candidates

Research methodology & writing scientific papers


MOOC-2, is a free 5-hour training designed specifically for early-stage researchers. This course will walk PhDs through the key stages of the research process, and equip them with essential skills for writing high-quality scientific papers.

1st Seminar School Unite!Energy: sustainable energy

PhDs, researchers and teachers met from 26 to 27 February 2025 in Barcelona.

Unite!Energy PhDs, researchers and teachers met at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya-Barcelona Tech (UPC) in Barcelona and, in addition to a series of scientific seminars, visited the Research Center for Multiscale Science and Engineering, the Specific Hydrogen Research Center and the Barcelona Supercomputing Center.

Unite!Energy 1st annual conference at Unite! Research School

From 14th to 18th October 2024, the first ever Unite! Research School took place, which was organised by Unite! Partner university Grenoble INP UGA.

 

It brought together 180 people including 50 masters, 80 PhDs and 50 reserarchers, from nine Unite! universities, in the fields of Electrochemical Energy Conversion and Storage, Artificial Intelligence, Industry 4.0, Nuclear Engineering and Sustainable Electronics.

 

It was also the first annual conference for the Unite!Energy researchers and PhD students, giving them the opportunity to finally meet in person.​

A vision of hydrogen for sustainable energy storage

Research for the energy transition: The international Doctoral Network "Unite.Energy” is investigating the use of hydrogen for chemical energy storage.

 

All nine universities in the Unite! alliance and other partner institutions are involved. The network is being funded by the EU for four years as a Marie Skłodowska-Curie action (MSCA) with around 3.2 million euros.

The 12 doctoral student positions are open!

The call for applications for the 12 doctoral positions is officially open.

 

Each PhD position includes periods at two of the participating universities, and a secondment to an institution or company, to study the technology in a practical environment.

Unite!Energy Doctoral Network officially starts

The kick-off meeting of the project was held on the 28th of February at the Graz University of Technology (TU Graz), a beneficiary of the Unite!Energy project and partner of the Unite Alliance, in the framework of the IX Unite!Dialogue.

​

Representatives of the beneficiaries and associated partners participated, which will host and train the students for 1 to 6 months during the PhD period.

The meeting was an excellent opportunity to discuss the project objectives and the following steps, as well as the scientific and organizational aspects of the project.
