News - Unite! Doctoral Network in Energy Storage
Unite!Energy 1st annual conference at Unite! Research School
From 14th to 18th October 2024, the first ever Unite! Research School took place, which was organised by Unite! Partner university Grenoble INP UGA. It brought together 180 people including 50 masters, 80 PhDs and 50 reserarchers, from nine Unite! universities, in the fields of Electrochemical Energy Conversion and Storage, Artificial Intelligence, Industry 4.0, Nuclear Engineering and Sustainable Electronics. It was also the first annual conference for the Unite!Energy researchers and PhD students, giving them the opportunity to finally meet in person.
The event took place in Autrans, in the mountains near Grenoble. For five days, participants had the chance to attend disciplinary lectures, plenary sessions and transversal skills courses and meet other PhDs students, researchers and industry representatives. There was also the opportunity to take part in a research challenge with mixed teams consisting of MSc and PhD students and researchers and to visit large instruments and research Infrastructures in the Grenoble Area.

Some researchers and doctoral students from Unite!Energy were also guests in Grenoble and were able to meet up for the 1st annual conference. So they had finally the opportunity to get to know each other and at the same time to present the Unite!Energy project to the Unite! community.

“We had a week full of formal and informal meetings, lectures and sport with Master and PhD students and professors from all over the world,” said Stefania Specchia from Politecnico di Torino.

Exchange among the Unite!Energy network
In addidtion Unite!Energy was in charge of one of the plenary talks (“Electro-chemical and thermo-chemical pathways for the production of sustainable chemicals”) and one of the four Disciplinary lectures (“Electrochemical Energy Conversion and Storage”). The PhD students took the opportunity to attend a course on ChatGPT as support for research. In parallel, the Unite!Energy supervisors participated in a best practice exchange.

The Research Week was a great opportunity to finally meet in person, and initiate the exchange among the Unite!Energy network – scientifically, and beyond.
